Organization & Membership
The Oregon Wine Brotherhood (OWB) is comprised of over one hundred fifty active members, called Knights or Gentle Ladies, from Oregon and Washington, and includes fourteen of Oregon and Washington’s premier wine makers and vineyard owners.
The OWB ceremonies are steeped in Old World Tradition with processions, knights, blessings of wineries and colorful regalia reminiscent of their European counterparts.
The organization supports the Oregon and Washington wine industries through educational events, scholarships and ceremonies and has participated in opening events for university enological programs and an Oregon Wine symposium at Copia in the Napa Valley in California.
Membership in the Oregon Wine Brotherhood (OWB) begins by sponsorship from a member in good standing. New members are enthroned each year at the Grand Assemblage. Before candidates are accepted for enthronement, they must present themselves to the officers of the order at the Commander’s Coffee, learn about the organization, and demonstrate their interest in membership.
The OWB is a volunteer-run organization. All members are expected to participate to the extent they are able. The management is comprised of the Grand Commander, Master Council (Board of Directors) and a Cadre of appointed officers who carry out most of the organizational duties necessary for a functioning organization.
